MultiOne d.o.o. proudly announces its key role in a significant project focused on the Velebit Nature Park, one of Croatia's most valuable natural assets. Commissioned by the Rewilding Velebit Foundation and executed in collaboration with Zadruga Granum Salis, this Phase I initiative lays the groundwork for a comprehensive understanding of forest naturalness across the entire park.
The primary objective of this project is to develop a robust internal geoinformation system (GIS) for the Velebit Nature Park administration. This system integrates relevant spatial data, meticulously pre-processed to facilitate in-depth analysis. A central component of this phase involves the detailed mapping of forest naturalness. This process includes a thorough assessment of the degree of threat to these valuable ecosystems.
Furthermore, the project identifies and proposes priority areas within commercial forests that are recommended for exclusion from wood exploitation. These recommendations are based on a scientific evaluation of their ecological significance and contribution to overall forest naturalness within the park.
The expertise of MultiOne's team, specifically Josip Križan, mag.inf.et math., and Luka Antonić, mag. ing. geod. et geoinf., has been instrumental in the successful execution of this initial phase. Their proficiency in spatial data management and GIS development has ensured the creation of a powerful tool that will empower the Velebit Nature Park in its conservation efforts.
This project represents a crucial step towards informed decision-making in the management of Velebit's forests. By providing a detailed spatial understanding of forest naturalness and identifying critical areas for protection, this initiative contributes directly to the long-term preservation of this exceptional natural heritage. The established GIS will serve as a valuable platform for future research, monitoring, and sustainable management practices within the park.
