Geomorphometric Analysis of Papuk Nature Park with Ranking and Zoning of Areas Based on the Risks of Landslides, Surface Soil Erosion, and Forest Fires

This study presents a comprehensive geomorphometric analysis of Papuk Nature Park, Croatia, aimed at identifying and mapping areas susceptible to significant natural hazards. Leveraging advanced spatial analysis techniques and digital elevation models, the project meticulously assesses the spatial distribution of risks associated with landslides, surface soil erosion, and forest fires. The methodology involves the integration of various environmental factors, including topography, geology, soil characteristics, vegetation cover, and climatic data, to generate detailed risk maps. Furthermore, the project establishes a hierarchical ranking and zoning system, categorizing areas within the park based on the severity of these identified risks. The outcomes of this research provide crucial spatial information for effective land management planning, infrastructure development, and the implementation of targeted mitigation strategies within Papuk Nature Park. This detailed risk assessment serves as a vital tool for enhancing the resilience of the park's ecosystems and safeguarding its natural and cultural heritage from the adverse impacts of geomorphological and fire-related hazards. The establishment of an internal geoinformation system further ensures the accessibility and long-term usability of the generated data for park management and future research endeavors.
